Horatio's Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show

We were recently commissioned to produce a bespoke Spear Pestle and Mortar for the charity Horatio’s Garden to showcase in their exhibition at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. We were delighted to work on this bespoke project with such a terrific charity. Horatio’s Garden is named after Horatio Chapple, a schoolboy volunteer who inspired the concept of a garden for spinal patients. The charity commissions leading garden designers to develop stunning sanctuaries, where patients at NHS spinal injury centres can spend time as they recuperate and readjust after surgery.

We take pride in every bespoke commission we receive, but for us Horatio’s Garden was a particularly special project to work on. An appreciation for finely judged simplicity and considered design is at the heart of the charity and we were thrilled and rather touched to have one of our classic designs, the Spear Pestle and Mortar, represent and help fund their work. We have hand thrown the pestles and mortars and then added the Horatio’s Garden logo in dark grey on the unglazed but vitrified piece, creating an under-stated finish that we and the charity are delighted with.

The pestle and mortar will be available to purchase at Horatio's Garden exhibition stand at the Chelsea Flower Show and is available to order through their website here.
