The sculptural shape of the Spear design is both pleasing to the eye and practical to use. The unique shape and the unglazed vitrified finish make it a real tactile pleasure to use. The mortar is shallower than most, allowing more efficient and effective grinding and paste making. Works best (and is at its most pleasing) when one uses the pestle with a rhythmic rocking motion.
