1. Pestle and Mortar

The iconic John Julian porcelain Pestle and Mortar, most famously used by Nigel Slater, is a unique gift that would take pride of place in any kitchen. Ideal for those who discovered a love of cooking during lockdown to professional chefs, the Pestle and Mortar set is customisable to adapt to individual cooking styles without compromising on aesthetics.

Available in two different sizes with a flat or bowl shaped mortar and a ball or spear handle, it is a personal and thoughtful luxury gift.

2. Mixing Bowls with Pouring Spout

The Mixing Pouring Bowl Set is perfect for bakers and budding Bake Off contestants. Handcrafted by our potters, the Bowls are made to be treasured and passed down the generations along with beloved family recipes. Specifically designed with cooks in mind, each bowl has an elegant pouring lip to make the transfer of anything from batters to dressings just that bit easier. Available to buy individually or in a choice of sets to suit your recipients’ needs. They scale up in size as the smaller sizes are suitable for whipping up a couple of eggs, sauces and salad dressings and the larger sizes are perfect for cake making and preparing dough.

Our team at John Julian is a small one – in the workshop we have 4 potters who work incredibly hard creating each piece out of the clay by hand. Each piece can take anything between 10 days to 6 weeks to craft from the lump of clay to the glazed, fired and sanded finished product, so we start preparing for Christmas early. We fire up our big kiln once a week, packed full of your pieces but would recommend that if you have had your eye on a piece that would make the perfect gift for someone, order sooner rather than later as sometimes we do sell out of items.
